History of The Department
of Department of Islamic Studies
The
present Jangannath University was once the biggest college among the
colleges of Bangladesh. It was established as a college in 1884. Now
it is a public university. The department of Islamic Studies is very
important department in the arts faculty. We have been teaching the
students various objects of human life, related to Islam because Islam
is not a mere creed.
From
the starting of the college Arabic literature and Islamic Studies has
been taught up to degree class. In the session of 1993-94 higher education
in Islamic Studies (M.A Course) has been started under the supervision
of Mr. Hafiz Anisur Rahman.
Honours
course has been started in the session of 1996-1997 under the supervision
of Mr. Muhammad Shamsul Alam. Semester system has been launched in the
session of 2005-2006 when the institution has been raised into a public
university (20.09.2005)
